Serving an Amazing God!

Levie-no longer blind.

Prayer Requests

  • That the many officials that came this week would see God’s love being shown here at the hospital
  • Wisdom as Eric works to get caught up in hospital finances in preparation for hospital oversight meetings taking place in a couple of weeks
  • Guidance as we look into an option in Boston this fall for potentially helping with Wendy’s back pain
  • God’s strength when we are tired

Hi all,

We had a great time at the beach cabin (including seeing elephants, a deer, some hawks/eagles, and hippo tracks on the beach).  It was a good break from the hospital.  When we returned, we had a week of home schooling (since our teacher was away), and that was fun (see picture below).

This week, our hospital had a visit from the wife of Gabon’s president.  She mentioned Bongolo eye clinic’s nationwide good reputation in her speech, and Wendy even got to shake her hand.  Along with the first lady’s visit, the national insurance company came to visit the same day.  They said that we should expect some large payments (perhaps as much as 2/3 of what they owe us) in the next few weeks.  In general, the visit was very encouraging.  Please pray that they follow through with what they said they would do.

Up above is a photo of a little 4 year old boy name Levie. He came to Pediatrics a couple weeks ago completely blind and also with malaria. Dr. Bintou and Wendy were consulted and found that there was increased pressure in his brain and around the optic nerve, and recommended that the pediatrician treat the malaria. A few days later he could see again and was coloring in a coloring book! Our teammate the pediatrician said, “We have a good God, who still restores sight to the blind, heals the sick, frees prisoners and the oppressed, and we get to see it right here.”

Praise God for His amazing love and for His ability to do all things!

Have a great week!

Love,
Eric and Wendy
