As a follower of Christ, at some point you come to accept and trust that Jesus knew what he was doing while he lived on this earth. One of the things he did – often times without them even realizing it – is disciple, mentor, or father the people he befriended.  He pointed them to what was foundational for a life of beauty, compassion, goodness...he pointed them to himself.  Jesus wants us to do the same thing.  In fact, his last words while on earth were "Go therefore and make disciples.” 

The Christian Ophthalmology Society wants to emphasizes disciple-making and mentoring at our gatherings because we realize that we learn how to do it in community.  This summer we will have a "Disciple-making in Ophthalmology" symposium at the Annual meeting with some tremendous speakers...
