Our Programs
  • Welcome to the COS!

The COS is an interdenominational society of eye surgeons and physicians who confess Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.  We welcome any eye surgeon who professes faith to join our society.  While our membership is primarily within the United States, we have a growing international membership.

The J Lawton Smith Award is given out each year at the annual COS meeting to an ophthalmologist who has shown a lifetime commmitment to serving the Lord through their personal practice of excellence in medicine, academic influence, and/or missionary dedication.  These outstanding ophthalmologists have demonstrated "practicing first class medicine in the spirit of love", a phrase loved by Dr. Smith.
