When the darkness here grows darker, then the light of God must grow increasingly brighter. We must agree to become God's lights of contradiction to evil and darkness. 1 John 4:4, “Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world”.

“COS has helped me keep Jesus at the center of my profession. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve with COS and pray that God would continue to use this organization to impact lives both professionally and spiritually for His kingdom.“

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” - Luke 12:34 In the midst of training and all of the challenges and rewards residency offers, it is all too easy for ophthalmology to sneak onto the throne of our hearts. The COS and the relationships I have formed through it have continually grounded me year after year to remember that my identity and my hope are found in Jesus Christ alone.

One of my favorite verses is Matthew 5:6, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied." When making tough decisions, I often think about what outcome I am 'hungering' for. This verse keeps me centered on glorifying God with my decisions, which in the end is the only truly fulfilling goal.

“Let a man regard us in this manner, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God” 1 Corinthians 4:1 Through the relationships and mentorships I have gained while being a part of the COS, I have been spurred on to stay focused on the mission of serving Christ and sharing the good news of the Gospel. Residency is demanding, but the COS has been a continual source of encouragement and perspective when I see how powerfully the Lord is working to literally and figuratively restore sight to the blind through ophthalmology.

Isaiah 30:21 "Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” I find myself incredibly blessed to be used to help restore sight to the blind, under certain circumstances, with the ultimate goal of helping to lead people toward salvation through Christ Jesus.

I am drawn to serve in the COS with a deep desire to offer encouragement and share the Gospel, as I believe in the transformative power of faith and compassion in people's lives. My motivation is rooted in the desire to uplift others through spiritual guidance, helping them find peace and purpose through the teachings of the Bible.
