2024 Female Spouse Program

Welcome to Greenville and the Women’s Program for the 48th COS Annual Meeting. We will gather for three mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 noon to renew and refresh our hearts in the Psalms and explore unique places near the Hyatt in the beautiful city of Greenville. You may join us for both morning events or for just one of the two.  Each morning from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, we will enjoy a time together to renew and refresh our hearts in the Psalms and then explore unique places near the Hyatt in the beautiful city of Greenville.

Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 9:00 am-12 Noon

We will look and listen to King David’s heart cry in Psalm 62, as he cried out in a time of trouble and stress to the Lord and found strength, rest, and peace. We will consider together how that looks in our busy world, why it is so hard to locate this longed-for destination, and how this Psalm offers a path or an “Address for Rest.”

Afterward, we will walk three blocks to ‘The Galleries at First Presbyterian’ to tour their current exhibit of Makoto Fujimura’s work, a renowned contemporary artist and author of the book Art + Faith: A Theology of Making. The collection on display is his work MYSTERION. Mysterion: A Collection of Works by Makoto Fujimura | FPC Greenville (firstpresgreenville.org) We might have time to stop at their coffee shop.

We will gather again to renew and refresh our hearts in the personal story of the unknown composer of the 116th Psalm. We will unpack this heartfelt rendering of the tears he has shed, the grief that has gripped his heart, and his brush with death that has taken him to the valley of despair. We will witness our delivering God, whose merciful grace restores Rest to this afflicted soul, as only He can do. Please join us for a morning of discovering the power of our Great God.

Afterward, we will tour the Kilgore-Lewis House, a historic house built in 1838, along with its Arboretum and 3.5 acres of quaint gardens on a small, beautiful lake that feels like a secret romantic hideaway. Garden Clubs of the Council | (kilgore-lewis.org)
