Verse of the Day

“Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)

Christian Ophthalmology Society
Tuesday, 01 January 2008
The Christian Ophthalmology Society was founded in 1977 as an interdenominational group of eye physicians and surgeons who confess that Jesus Christ is Savior and Lord.

The goals of the society are:
1) To develop unity in friendship among ophthalmologists in Christ
2) To encourage medical students, house officers and fellows in their walk with the Lord
3) To support other physicians' faith in Christ regardless of denominational background
4) To have meetings with emphasis on the family so that all family members will feel at home and enjoy the surroundings
5) To develop new professional acquaintances and get to know the families of colleagues who love the Lord
6) To cooperate with and pray for missionary ophthalmologists
7) To pray for revival, particularly in medicine

Society activities include an annual summer scientific and spiritual meeting and a prayer meeting during the annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. An informational poster is also presented at the Academy meeting. The Society supports a number of eye mission organizations both with finances and with participation by member physicians. Dr. Steve Grimes helps to organize an effort to place a Bible into the possession of as many first year ophthalmology residents as possible. Society members are available to help doctors or family members who are in need of counsel and/or prayer.
